Obituary

William Henry Blanchard, Jr. , was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia, on October 7, 1948 to William Blanchard, Sr. and Louise Blanchard.

After graduating from Crestwood High School William enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a military police officer. He proudly served in Vietnam. After William retired from the Marine Corps he continued to service his community as a United States Postal Service worker. He later retired with the title of Post Master. Not long after retirement William purchased his first home in the heart of Stafford Virginia.
William was a man of very few words. He enjoyed a simple life of relaxation doing things like playing chess, listening to his record player, doing yard work, going to the grocery store specifically the commissary, or even just sitting on the porch with his dog from sun up to sun down.

William transitioned into internal life peacefully at his home on the night of April 10, 2026.

He is survived by his children, Renita, Elgin (Tania), William (April) and Kenneth; grandchildren, Malik, Bryauna, and Aliyah; his great grandchildren, Malakai and Leilani; siblings, Elsie and Larry; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA, 22172, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11:30 AM followed by his interment.
