The true worth of a person's life cannot be solely determined by its duration but also by
the indelible legacy it leaves and the profound impact on others. Wayne's journey
through life was one adorned with joy and prosperity, making him the patriarch of our
family. A remarkable man, Wayne held titles of husband, father, grandfather, brother,
uncle, and friend with immense pride. As Wayne departs from our physical realm, his
memory shall endure eternally within our hearts.

On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Mary Washington Hospita l in Fredericksburg, VA,
Wayne discovered a sense of serenity as he embarked on his journey into what lies
beyond. This transition marked his passage into a state of Eternal Rest, freeing him from
the burdens of suffering and ailment.

Born on December 29, 1944, in Fredericksburg, VA, Wayne was the biological son of
Arthur Cooper and Mary Lawrence. He found his home within the loving embrace of the
family of the late Aleathia Minor, and John Minor, Sr. His bond with his mother, Aleathia,
stood as a testament to unwavering love and protection. Amongst his thirteen siblings,
five – Donald Minor Sr., John Minor Jr., Calvin Minor, Andrew Minor, and James Cooper
– preceded him in death.

Over five decades ago, Wayne met his lifelong companion and soulmate, Vanessa
(Burrell) Lawrence. The union blossomed, giving their hearts to 16 beautiful and loving
children. Wayne's gentle and compassionate nature radiated through his ever-present
smile. His genuine delight in connecting with people left a lasting impression. Wayne's
heart overflowed with love for his wife, family, and cherished activities. You would
always find him smiling, dancing, singing, and utilizing his automotive technician skills to
enjoy various hobbies.

Wayne's educational path led him to graduate from John J. Wright High School, after
which he promptly enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany
during the Vietnam war. Wayne's military career transitioned into employment with
Verizon, retiring after being rewarded with numerous accolades during his 33 years of
dedication. He took pride in his work and never missed a day.

Even after retiring, Wayne didn't stop contributing. He started his own landscaping
business, an endeavor he pursued until his health took a downturn. As a father and
family-oriented man, Wayne consistently imparted valuable life skills and lessons to his
children. Wayne and his wife Vanessa improved the lives of numerous children by
becoming foster parents.

As time passed, Wayne's health gradually declined, and he faced this challenge with
unwavering courage. Today, that struggle comes to an end. This honorable soldier had
fought a good fight. Wayne's absence will leave a void that cannot be filled, deeply felt
by the many he touched.
