Twanna
Washington
d. Sep 18, 2026
On September 18, 2026, Twanna Delores Washington, age 65, transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Born on March 24, 1961, Twanna was the beloved daughter of the late John Henry Parker and Bertha Parker. She was educated in Spotsylvania County and attended Spotsylvania High School.
Twanna was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Bertha Parker; her beloved sister, Clintina "Tina" Parker; and her beloved son, Khalis Parker.
Twanna was a woman of faith—a true soldier for God. She faced life's challenges with courage and rarely allowed fear to dictate how she lived. Even through difficult seasons, she continued moving forward. There was sometimes pain behind her beautiful smile, but there was always an abundance of love within her heart.
Above everything else, Twanna loved her family.
She was a fiercely devoted mother who did not play when it came to her sons. She raised, protected, provided for, and loved her children with everything she had. Her sons knew a special kind of security because of their mother. She possessed a strength that made them feel protected in a way few people ever could.
But Twanna's motherly love was never limited to the children she gave birth to. To many of her sons' friends, she became a second mother. If you entered Twanna's home, she wanted to make sure you were included, cared for, and—most importantly—fed. She had a way of making people feel as though they belonged.
Giving was simply part of who Twanna was.
She was known for putting the needs of others before her own, sometimes stretching herself thin to make sure the people she loved were okay. She would give the shirt off her back to someone she cared about, whether or not that same love was always returned to her. This generosity was both one of her greatest gifts and, at times, one of her greatest burdens.
She especially cared deeply for the elders in her life. If someone needed assistance, Twanna was not afraid to step forward, ask questions, seek help, or do whatever she could to make sure they were properly cared for.
Twanna enjoyed cooking, music, laughter, good energy, and positive vibes. Even when negativity seemed to find its way into her life, she found a way to keep living, loving, smiling, and moving forward.
And anyone who knew Twanna knew that she loved to look good.
That sense of style was something passed down from her mother, Bertha Parker, who taught Twanna and her sister Tina the importance of carrying themselves well. Twanna loved keeping her hair and nails done and taking pride in her appearance. Her style, smile, and personality were part of the unmistakable presence she brought into a room.
Over the years, that charming smile and loving personality brought countless friends and extended family into her life. Twanna could be misunderstood at times—even by friends and family—but those closest to her knew the depth of the woman behind the smile. They knew her sacrifices, her struggles, her loyalty, and the tremendous amount of love she carried.
In the later beautiful years of her life, Twanna shared a special love with her husband, Keenan Washington, who became her rock. She made no secret of how much he meant to her. Twanna once explained that she married Keenan because she could see the good in him—she could see what others could not see.
That statement reflected Twanna's heart. She had an ability to see something worthwhile in people, even when others might have overlooked it.
Twanna leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Keenan Washington; her sons, Charles Sims and Jon-Luke Sims; her daughter-in-law, Quintina Sims; her stepdaughter, Latisha Buckner; her grandchildren, Christien, Bryan, Marley, Sophia, Abigail, Jordan, Demonte, Kari, Dajan, and Kiki; and her great-grandchildren, Ellerie, Matthew, and Aliza.
She also leaves behind countless relatives, friends, extended family members, and people whose lives were touched by her kindness, generosity, humor, strength, and love.
For her sons and husband, however, Twanna was more than any collection of words could adequately describe.
She was their protector.
She was their provider.
She was their comfort.
She was their rock.
She was their Twanna.
We are proud to have been the sons and husband of such a powerful woman. We would not trade the love she gave us, the lessons she taught us, or the years God allowed us to share with her for anything in this world.
Although our hearts hurt because we can no longer see her smile, hear her voice, enjoy her cooking, or feel her physical presence, the love Twanna gave us did not leave on September 18.
It remains in her children.
It remains in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
It remains in her husband.
It remains in every person she fed, protected, encouraged, helped, welcomed, or treated like family.
And it will remain with us for generations to come.
Twanna Delores Washington lived as a mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, protector, giver, and woman of God.
Her journey on earth has ended, but the love she poured into so many people will continue telling her story.
Rest peacefully, Mom. You took care of everybody else for so long. Now you can rest.
We love you, and we will carry you with us—always.
