Timothy
Banks
d. Jul 14, 2026
Timothy Banks , affectionately known to many as "Tim," departed this life on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Tim was known as a meek, humble, and kind-hearted man whose gentle spirit touched the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Tim was educated in the District of Columbia and graduated from Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C. He began his career with D&F Furniture, where he served as a supervisor.
After relocating to Spotsylvania, Virginia, he made his home there and continued his career with Smart Mailing in Thornburg, Virginia, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Tim accepted Christ and joined Third Mt Zion at its previous location. Although he was not a frequent attendee in later years, he maintained a personal relationship with God that remained an important part of his life.
Tim enjoyed life's simple pleasure and was a loyal fan of the Washington Commanders, faithfully cheering on his favorite team through every season.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, Mr. Carl Ellis; his mother, Mrs. Katie Banks; his beloved grandparents, Daniel Minor and Ethel Banks, who lovingly raised him; and his son, Daniel Banks.
Although Tim has departed from this earthly life, we will remember his legacy, humility, kindness, and unwavering love.
Tim leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife, Gladys Mae Banks of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his sons, Timothy Minor, Jr. "Booney" (Tasha) of Sterling, Virginia and Douglas "Mack" Reeves of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and one beloved granddaughter, Triqua Carter.
He is also survived by one brother, Charles Lee Ellis of Spotsylvania, Virginia; two sisters, Veronica Ellis of Orange, Virginia, and Linda Ellis of Spotsylvania, Virginia; two brothers-in-law, James "Eddie" Morris (Charmaine) of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and James "Robert" Parker (Annette) of Woodford, Virginia; and one sister-in-law, Katricey Richburg of Baltimore, Maryland.
Tim also leaves behind a host of loving cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. Among them was his devoted cousin-brother, Earl Minor, whose faithful visits and unwavering love brought Tim brotherly love throughout years.
A viewing and visitation will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg, VA, 22408, on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.
