Shirley
Jackson
d. May 10, 2024
Shirley Ann Berkeley-Jackson , 83, of Fredericksburg, VA, was sleeping peacefully when GOD whispered in her ear. You have upheld my commandments faithfully. You have shown unwavering devotion, loved your enemies, fed the hungry, and generously aided the poor. You have fought courageously and endured much. Now, the moment has arrived for you to earn your celestial wings and have eternal peace.
Shirley Ann Berkely-Jackson, born February 23, 1941, to the late Clarence and Catherine Berkeley, departed this earthly realm on Friday, May 10, 2024, at her residence. She was born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia and received her education in the Fredericksburg Public School System where she graduated from Walker Grant High School. After completing high school, she enrolled in the Washington School for Secretaries where she obtained her secretarial certificate.
In 1969, she married Joe Jackson and traveled both nationally and internationally as a military spouse, leading her to embark on adventures to various destinations. Shirley often reminisced about her travels abroad because they held a special place in her heart.
In 1989 Shirley returned to Fredericksburg and began her tenure at the Commissary on the Quantico Marine Base, where she remained until her retirement in 2007.
Shirley cherished moments with her family, indulged in watching game shows and sports, and eagerly secured a seat on any bus bound for a day at the casino. Adored by her family and friends, all who knew and cherished her will deeply feel her absence.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Catherine and Clarence Berkeley, her husband Joe Jackson, four sisters, Mary "Puggy" Kenney, Nannie Brown, Frances Woolfolk, and Doris Berkeley, one brother Robert 'Billy" Berkeley, and one great-aunt Mary Johnson.
