Roland Lee Samuel, Sr., 72, was born to the late Hazel Samuel and Roosevelt Porter, Jr. on June 12, 1953. He attended school in Spotsylvania County and graduated from James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg, VA in 1972. Roland worked various jobs before he became disabled.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jermaine Samuel, and three brothers, Kenneth, Eric and Ralph Samuel.

Roland is survived by his wife, Verdena Samuel; son, Roland Samuel, Jr. (Nadia); brother, Dennis Samuel (Tanya); sister, Marylin Smith (Griffin); several grandchildren,  nieces, nephews, a host of "sister cousins",  extended family and friends.

A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
