Robert Earl Smith was born on May 27, 1957, in Spotsylvania, VA, to the late, Seymore and Dorothy Smith. On January 29, 2023, Robert departed this life a t Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA.

At an early age, he came to know the Lord and joined Sylvannah Baptist Church. He was educated in the Spotsylvania County Public School System. He attended John J. Wright Middle School and Spotsylvania High School. He worked at Rappahannock Roofing over 44 years.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Seymo re and Dorothy Smith; brothers , John Willie, Ernest Randall, Frank Smith, Scott Smith, Randolph Smith, and Edward Smith; sisters, Mary Alice Smith, Charlotte Smith, Dorothy Smith, and Elsie Washington.

Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Robert Carter of Fredericksburg VA, and Eric Carter (Charles) of Spotsylvania, VA; grandchildren Brianna Carter, and Jeremyah Carter; one brother, Walter Smith; three sisters, Annie Smith, Helen Smith, and Eva Mae Fox; a favorite niece, Earlene Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at S ylvannah Baptist Church Cemetery.
