Robert Eugene Lucas affectionately known as ''Me Boy, Bob, and Cool Hand Luke'' was born in Caroline County, Virginia on August 11, 1946, to James and Nannie Lucas. Robert departed suddenly from an illness on March 1, 2024, at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC.

Robert was a graduate of Union High School in 1964. He worked many years as a laborer at D.A. Foster. He believed in Jesus Christ and was baptized at the Beulah Baptist Church at an early age. He listened to gospel music every Sunday morning. He had no children but helped rear his nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful friend to many and helped countless others in need. The family was important to him, and he was there when you needed him.

Robert was loved and adored by so many people. His life and love will be cherished forever. Robert was preceded in death by his parents James and Nannie Lucas, his sisters, Annie Washington, and Esther Crutchfield, 2 brothers, Kenneth Washington and James Washington, nephew Michael Crutchfield, and niece Donna Washington.

He is survived by two loving sisters, Frances Davis, and Ruth Lucas, one brother-in-law, Clyde Crutchfield Sr, six nieces, Sylvia Cunningham, Linda Washington, Jennifer Washington, Felicia Davis, Melissa Davis, and Deborah Crutchfield, three nephews, Terry Washington, Kenneth Crutchfield, and Clyde Crutchfield, Jr., 3 great nieces, 3 great nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.

Robert was an amazing brother, uncle, and friend. He was a hard worker, an avid football fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and loved NWA wrestling, and music. Robert will forever be in our hearts and will be missed. We are deeply saddened that he is gone but thank God that He allowed him to see 77 years. We will see you again soon to share eternity. We love you, Robert.

A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour before the funeral service. A funeral service will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, 5216 Arcadia Road, Woodford, VA 22580.
