Robert Juggins,
Jr.
d. Feb 6, 2024
Robert "Bob or Bobby" Lewis Juggins, Jr. , 85, of Stafford, VA, peacefully departed this life on February 6, 2024, at home with family. He celebrated his 85th birthday January 27, 2024, about 1-1/2 weeks before the Lord called him home. Bob was born to the late Robert Lewis Juggins, Sr. and Florine Montague Juggins on January 27, 1939. He received his education in the Public Schools of Stafford and graduated from Walker Grant High School, Fredericksburg, VA, receiving his High School Diploma, and senior quote was "Learn to labor and to wait". His class prophecy in viewing his landscape for his latest engineering project, was to name it "Fredericksburg Impeding Freeway". His class-will was to leave his ability at the drawing board to accomplish each assignment, to a classmate. Bob married his sweetheart Bessie Mae Cheney Juggins for 69 years. His Bessie was Assistant Pastor, Shiloh New Site Church, Stafford, VA until the Lord called her home May 14, 2021. Bob raised his family in East Hartford, CT before early retiring and returning to Stafford, VA where he designed and built his own house. They had two children, Reverend Yvonne Clarissa Juggins, Durham, NC, and Linda Anne Juggins, Stafford, VA. Preceded in death was his youngest brother William "Willie" Juggins. Living is one sister Jeannette Marie Juggins, Fredericksburg, VA, and brother Charles Eugene Juggins, Stafford, VA. Bob has two granddaughters, Minister Alicia Juggins, Connecticut and Sherri Lynne (Juggins) Taylor (husband Paul Taylor), Virginia. Four great-grandchildren: Sir John Baez Perkins, VA and Spain; Sir Robert Lewis Juggins III, (CT); Vera Isabella Mae Juggins (CT); and Ayanna Renee Taylor, (VA). He has one beloved niece Elaine Marie Juggins and her five children (VA).
Bob served six and a half years in the Airforce, Nellis AFB, Nevada, as a Petty Officer Inventory Management Specialist trained in Data Processing before honorably discharged and driving cross country with his Bessie and baby Yvonne to begin working at Aetna Insurance Company, Hartford CT. Bob worked there for over 25 years, including in management and as a liaison analyst in the computer data center, facilitating the start-up of two new data centers in Cromwell, CT and Rocky Hill, CT. Bob was the first Afro-American and minority to work in the computer data center. He was involved and won awards in Toastmasters International, including outstanding service as Youth Leadership Coordinator. He was hired with a high school diploma and Airforce military experience, and continued his education in programming and data processing at the University of Hartford. As if the 9-5 hours weren't enough, Bob started his own car detaining business within Aetna's parking garage with two employees. Additionally, he expanded starting a car wash with two employees at a gas station in Hartford, CT.
As a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in CT he faithfully served as the VP of the Men's Usher Board, Trustee, and strategic planning, and any other areas serving where needed. He and his "buddy" church brothers in Christ from Hopewell, have been friends for about 60 years, though some he is now with on the other side of glory
Bob was a visionary, avid planner, developer and builder and could learn, fix and do maintenance on cars, computers, electronics, home interior and exterior and just about anything else while hanging out with his buddies and family, and of course, "his Bessie". He was a fan of the Washington football team, until the Kansas Chiefs signed Pat Mahomes. His hope was that Mahomes would lead the team to back-to-back and another Super Bowl victory in 2024, which indeed they did.
Bob loved listening to old school gospel music, especially while driving. He was faithful always there for his wife, family, extended family, friends and the community. Bob loved riding to go see, check up on, and spend time with them. Bod made sure the Reverend Bessie Juggins got to everywhere and anywhere she had to be in serving the Lord years. Tho sorely missed by those who knew and loved him, we're blessed in knowing Bob and Bessie are both with the Lord.
A viewing will be held at Shiloh New Site Baptist Church, 2982 Jefferson Davis Highway, Stafford, VA 22554, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will be held afterward, followed by the repass. All will be held at Shiloh.
