Ricky
Kay
d. Sep 17, 2022
Ricky Lee Kay departed this life on September 17, 2022. He was born on January 22,1968, to Otis L. Kay, Sr. and Pauline Kay.
Ricky was baptized at an early age under the pastorage of the late Rev. Robert Bowles at Beulah Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia. After a few life experiences, Ricky recently accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Ricky graduated from Spotsylvania High School in the class of 1985. While there, he made the infamous basketball shot of the year. He scored two points for the opponent's team.
After graduating from high school, Ricky worked at a printing press located in downtown Fredericksburg. Though he used his hands to operate this machine, God had other plans for Ricky's hands. God had given him a natural gift of working with his hands to create and mend broken items. He was often found in his early years working at Chew's Auto Garage with the late Dee Chew, always under the hood of a car or truck. He then worked side by side with his father, working on John Deere tractors, combines, and any vehicle that needed attention to help his father's farming and snow plowing jobs. Most recently, he worked for Units in the Northern Virginia area. Though most would assume that working on cars was his favorite passion, there were two things he always wanted to do. He had a desire to work on airplanes and jets in the Air Force and his other dream was to open his business as a carpenter. He could lay down wooden floors, renovate any room in the house, paint, you asked him, and he could do it. Ricky was very confident in his work and would tell you too!
Anyone who knew Ricky knew that he was close with his mother. He called her every day, sometimes two times a day to check on her. He always knew how to make her laugh.
Ricky leaves to cherish, his daughter, Tiffany Kay; his parents, Rev. Otis Kay, Sr. and Pauline Kay; four brothers, Robert Kay (Mary) of Spotsylvania, Otis Kay, Jr. (Rebecca) of Stafford, Maurice Kay (Lorretta Fox) of Spotsylvania, and Anthony Kay (Yolanda) of Spotsylvania; one sister, Natasha Bailey of Spotsylvania; a devoted friend, Chequita Washington; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, a great nephew, great nieces, several cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at First Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 17065 Seals Road, Sparta, VA, 22552, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 12:00 PM.
