Richard Edwards , 87, of Fredericksburg, VA, departed this life on March 6, 2022, at Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was the son, of the late Charles and Annie Edwards and the widower, of Marie Acors Edwards. He attended Walker-Grant High School in Fredericksburg, VA. Richard was a life-long member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Brooke, VA, where for many years he served as a deacon, member of the men's chorus, and the Sunday School Superintendent.

He is survived by his brother, Robert (Bob) Edwards; his adopted brother (nephew), Nathaniel Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg, VA, on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. The interment will be held privately at a later date at the Mt. Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Brooke, VA.
