Raymond
Washington
d. Feb 4, 2022
Raymond Wesley Washington peacefully departed this life on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Louisa Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Raymond was born on November 4, 1936, in Rhoadesvillie, VA, to the late Booker T. Washington and Lois Washington. At an early age he joined Mt. Holy Baptist Church. Raymond was educated in the Orange County School System.
In 1958, Raymond married Shirley Simpson and from this union four children were born. Raymond was employed with Evan Door Lumber Company for over 35 years. He hauled and sold cars for different people. Everyone used to call on Raymond because he did a good job, was the cheapest around and sometimes didn't charge. That's how much love he had for people. He was all about helping whoever he possibly could, until his health failed. He was a very humble person and never complain about anything.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Washington; his son, Raymond Eugene Washington; his parents, Booker T. Washington, and Lois Washington; three brothers, Bobby Washington, Charles Washington, and Alvin Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memory to, his daughters, Pamela Coleman (Henry) of Spotsylvania, VA, and Shelia Newman (Edward) of Pennsylvania; one son, Steve Washington (Bridget) of Rhoadesville, VA; one brother, Clarence Washington (Barbara); two sisters, Clara Jackson (Thomas) and Lois Ragland (Wesley); four sisters-in-law. Helen Simpson, Carol Simpson, Phyllis Washington, and Bernice Washington; two brothers-in-law, James Fowlkes, and Billy Simpson; grandchildren, Sharnat Blakey (Howard), Darrin Coleman (Janetria), Keith Coleman (Ebony), Cornell Washington (Angie), Shamana Carter (Chris) Chiquita Ferguson (Ricky) and Sherica Fitch; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; devoted friends who always looked out for Raymond, Donald Turner and Betty Turner and Raymond Offer; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
