Obituary

Ralph Evans Jr. , affectionately known to most as Ralphie, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 26, 2026 at Virginia Hospital in Arlington, VA. Ralph was born on June 9, 1951 to the late Ralph Sr. and Maria Evans. As a child, Ralph attended St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Ralph attended and graduated from Asbury Park High School. There he met lifelong good friends and they got into every mischievous thing that they could think of doing. Ralph loved baseball and played on several teams all around Monmouth County achieving the honorable title of "Third Baseman." Ralph was also an avid bowler; he played on teams in Asbury, Neptune and Fort Monmouth, New Jersey.

Ralph was employed at Caci, Inc. in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. There, he met many wonderful friends and co-workers including Dorothy Gordon. Later Ralph's employment transferred to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Maryland

On January 21, 2011, Ralph married the love of his life and best friend Dorothy Gordon. Together they supported each other through tough times, good times, sickness and health. Later in 2011, Ralph and Dorothy joined Pennsylvania A.M.E. Zion Church in Baltimore, Maryland where he became an active member of the Usher Board. Ralph was proud to be a "Doorkeeper in the house of the Lord." He participated in the yearly "Ushers March Celebration" and proudly led his group at the AME Zion Annual Conference holding the Church's banner and marching proudly for God.

Ralph loved music. His favorite artists were The Temptations, The Whispers. Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes and the Mighty Manhattans. He really enjoyed seeing the Manhattans in concert at the Birchmere Theater in Alexandria, VA. Ralph also loved R&B music, including the O'Jays, Kool and the Gang and Earth, Wind and Fire. Before he became very sick, he wanted to go to the Chris Brown and Usher Concert because he loved their new music.

Let's not forget Ralph's love for his Puerto Rican heritage. Oh how he loved his Mom's Pernil, beans and rice. He enjoyed gathering with family and friends for delicious meals, laughter and fun.

Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Ralph Sr. and Maria Evans, paternal grandparents, Walter and Laura Evans, maternal grandparents, Juan and Petra Navarro, Aunt Lucy Johnson, brothers, Tyrone, Walter and Robert Evans and sisters, Petra "Tita" Rosario and Maria "Pusa" Evans.

Ralph leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Dorothy E. Evans; brothers, Francisco "Frankie" Rosario, Pedro "Luco" Evans, and Alfredo "Al" Evans; uncles, Pete and Herman Navarro; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Bobby Poole; Yvonne Speights and James Kinney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
