Michael Levi Sayles, Sr. , affectionately known as "Mike" entered eternal rest on Friday, December 8, 2023. He was born on August 9, 1956, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to the late William Sayles and Dorothy Wheeler Sayles.

Michael was a proud graduate of James Monroe High School in 1974 and went on to serve our country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he applied his skills as a maintenance technician for several local businesses. Mike was not only dedicated to his work but also known for his passion as an avid football fan. He remained steadfast in referring to the Washington Commanders as the "Washington Redskins."

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Sayles, and his sister, Shirley Sayles.

Michael leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by his two daughters, Tarah Janel Sayles, and Tiffany Sayles Duncan (Jimmy), and his son, Michael Levi Sayles, Jr., all residing in Anniston Alabama. He is also remembered by his six grandchildren, Mikelia Lauderdale, Tianna Lauderdale, Alexzandria Taylor, Malik Sayles, Trentez Elston, and Jamari Peters. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Michael is survived by his sisters, Gertrude Colter and Deborah Sayles of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and his brothers, Jessie Wheeler of King George, Virginia, and William (Portia) Sayles of Fredericksburg, Virginia. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. Michael's impact extended to bonus family members, Winston Spidell, and Wynette Birdsong.

A viewing will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church New Site on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will be held at Quantico National Cemetery on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
