Mable
Frye
d. Sep 6, 2025
It is with great sadness, the family of Mabel Elizabeth Frye , affectionately known as "Liz", announces their passing away peacefully on September 6, 2025, in Dover Delaware, just shy of her 84th birthday surrounded by her loving family.
Mabel was born on September 17, 1941, in King George County, Virginia. Mabel was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Belle Williams. She was known for her gentle spirit and her caring heart.
In 2008, Mabel moved to Dover, Delaware, to live closer to and be cared for by her daughter Millicent (Missy) and son-in-law, Gary Jones Sr. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching her favorite soap operas, the Game Show Channel and sharing many stories from her past. She also deeply cherished her visits from the priest.
In her early years, Mabel met the love of her life, Joseph Frye Sr., who would later become her devoted husband. She often enjoyed telling the story of how he would save her a seat on the school bus—an early sign of the love and commitment that would define their marriage.
A graduate from Ralph Bunche High School in King George VA, she devoted much of her life to caring for others. She worked for many years in the long-term care as a nurse assistant, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives. Later, she continued her calling through private duty care, earning the love and respect of her clients and their families. Her ability to comfort, nurture, and encourage others left a lasting mark on all who knew her.
Her faith was central to her life. Mabel was a member and Deaconess of First Baptist Ambar Church in King George, Virginia, where she served faithfully until her health changed. She found strength and peace in prayer. Even in her later years, her devotion to God remained unwavering.
Mabel loved her family and friends deeply and held a special place in her heart for her sister and brother, whom she adored. Their bond was a lifelong source of strength and joy to her.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Frye, Sr., and her children, Esther-Frye Cook and Joseph Frye, Jr.
She leaves to celebrate her memory three children: Elease Parker (Alphonso), Millicent Jones (Gary Sr), and Bryan Frye, Sr. (Josephine); her sister, Esther Beverly (James); her brother, Major Williams; her grandchildren, Allen, Stephanie, Shaunte', Jacquelyn, Brandon, Michael, Rhonda, Chaneshe', Gary, Jr., Chantel, Tiffany, Bryan, Jr., and Donell; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Mabel will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, and her unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength and devotion that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
A viewing will be held at St. Stephen's Baptist Church, 9142 Comorn Road, King George, VA, 22485, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at First Baptist Ambar Church Cemetery, 9469 Caledon Road, King George, VA 22485.
