Lorraine Bankett Chambers , age 91, ascended into Glory on October 14, 2023. She was in the comfort of her home when her spirit departed this earth after an extensive battle with several medical issues.

Lorraine was born on November 23, 1931, in Essex County, Virginia to the late James and Mary Sayles. Lorraine was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Clifford Chambers. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, four brothers, and a son. Lorraine was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Baptist, Hustle, Virginia and attended gracefully until the
failure of her health.

It would be inappropriate to say that Lorraine lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to exhibit her delightful smile. When any member of her family was disheartened, Lorraine stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn't mean she lost her fight.

Lorraine leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Jean Meney (Don), Martha Ella Smith; daughter-in-law, Virginia Johnson, and Sister Ann Gary. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her extended family. Her special boy's Jamie, Quintin, Travis, and Rod also an exceptionally great friend, Vernelle Holmes.

A visitation will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.
