Lillian
Vaughan
d. Sep 1, 2025
Lillian Mae Vaughan was born September 28, 1929, to her loving parents, Robert Lewis and Gertrude Johnson in Brooklyn, New York.
Her presence, though no longer with us in the physical world, will forever echo in the hearts and stories of those lives she touched. Through seasons of joy and moments of challenge, this remarkable woman dazzled their path with grace, poise, confidence, strength, her artistic and stylish flair and her strong political views.
Lillan loved her family and friends dearly. When you became her friend, you became family. She took stock in your children and championed for their success. Many looked to Lillian as their 'Second Mom'.
Lillian loved people of all nationalities and cultures. She desired to experience the arts and cultures all over the world. To say that she had a love for travel is indeed an understatement as she visited places such as Madrid, The Bahamas, Seville, Morocco, London, Jordan, West and East Africa, Belgium, St. Lucia and many Caribbean Islands. She was entranced with the beauty and people of Africa and often spoke of the cuisine she enjoyed there. She was a political activist and an advocate for the causes of all disenfranchised people of color. She protested Apartheid and attended Pan-African rallies because she believed that people everywhere should have access to opportunities and resources.
Lillian holds a special place in our hearts and will be greatly missed.
