Lewis "P.J."
Noel, Jr.
Aug 14, 1987 — Jun 27, 2022
Lewis Phillip Noel, Jr. , affectionately known as "P.J.", left his earthly home to be with his heavenly father. He has now accompanied God's Angel to his eternal home.
Lewis was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Janice Sims Noel and Lewis Phillip Noel Sr. and was affectionately named P.J. by his mom. P.J. was always spiritual and accepted Christ at an early age. He joined Long Branch Baptist Church where he was a faithful and diligent servant of the Lord until his illness no longer allowed him to attend.
P.J. was an author and published the book "Utterings – The Passion and Poetry of PJ". As his health allowed, he would speak or read his poetry at different events. He was a spelling bee champion for three years in a row and also served as a basketball coach for the YMCA. He was a member of Boys State and spent one week in D.C. attending a National Honor Society event. A member of Scholastic Intellectual Programs throughout High School, P.J. graduated from James Monroe High School with an advanced diploma. After graduation, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University for one year. P.J. was also invited to attend President Barack Obama's inauguration. P.J. also participated in feeding the homeless and visited the seniors during the holidays. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and loved to read, watch sports (Indianapolis Colts) and was considered one of the "Noel" family historians. Even as his disease progressed, he never complained. He always put the needs and feelings of others before his own. P.J. was loved by all who knew him and will be truly missed.
P.J. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Juanita, and Edmond Noel, Sr., and Geraldine Sims and Emmett Sims, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Janice Sims Noel; father, Lewis Phillip Noel, Sr.; devoted brother, Christopher, brother, Shawn; nephew, Jamari; uncles, Edmond Noel, Jr. (VyCurtis), Bernard Sims, Frederick Sims (Aakre), William Noel, Sr.; aunt, Alison Noel; cousins, James Noel (J.T.), Tanesha Sims-Summers (Clem), Adriane Noel, Fitzgerald Sims II, Ashleigh Sims, Micah Moss-Jackson, William Noel, Jr., Regan Sims, Ayana Phelps-Noel, Jaylen Fields, Jacee Summers, Janaah Summers, and Charleigh Ruffin; and a host of other relatives, church members and friends.
