Obituary

SFC Kelvin "Scooter" McCray, Sr. , USA Retired, was born on August 25, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York to Lennie McCray and the late Arice McCray. On the morning of December 16, 2022, Kelvin entered into eternal rest to be embraced by his heavenly father; his final journey home.

Kelvin received his education in the public schools of Orangeburg County and graduated from Elloree High School where he excelled in the sport of basketball. After graduating, he enlisted in the United Stated Army, where he served his country for over 20 years as a Unit Supply Specialist. During his tenure, Kelvin completed several missions and tours, including serving in Operation Desert Storm. Following retirement, Kelvin began working as a DoD Contractor providing non-traditional, untethered logistics support services. Prior to his death, he worked as a Senior Logistics Manager at Vectrus, supporting the Department of Defense at Joint Base Anacostia Bolling. His experience in the Army played an important role in his life. He frequently spoke about how the Army taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, and investing in a cause larger than himself. Because of his dedication and hard work, Kelvin earned numerous awards and metals, including the Defense Meritorious Service Metal.

"Scooter" as he was affectionately called, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Win or lose Dallas was still his favorite team. You could frequently find Kelvin in the stands cheering his team on. When Dallas plays, he will be watching from the heavens, rooting on his beloved Cowboys.

He leaves behind to cherish his precious memory his son, Kelvin McCray, Jr.; two daughters, Ashley Holland (Montaca), and Rakea Williams (Rodney); two granddaughters, Charlotte Holland and Kensley Craddock, and former wife, Sheila Bennett.
