Keith
Brown
d. Feb 23, 2023
Keith Anthony Brown , 68 of Fredericksburg, Virginia departed this earth in his call home on Thursday, February 23, 2023.
Keith Brown was the first of three children, born to the late Charles and Bessie Brown on June 11, 1954, in Washington, DC. At the age of 19, Keith Brown accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and began serving in the local Bethel Commandment Church of the Living God under Bishop Purvis Isaac. It was during this time (at the age of 20) that he met his lovely wife, Waverly A. Brown, whom he married two years later.
Keith faithfully served Bethel Commandment Church of the Living God for 15 years as a Deacon and bass player performing and traveling with "Deep Water Fisherman" and at the age of 39 he was called into Pastoral-ship and with the strong support of his wife (Waverly) and Elder Rey Magloire & his wife Wendy Magloire, Keith started his own church entitled "Wilderness Ministry". During his time as a Pastor, Keith was relentless in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and desperate. On Friday evenings, he select a location to set up a PA system and musical equipment on 14 th , 16 th , or Benning Road in Washington D.C. and sometimes travel as far as locations in Philadelphia, PA and preach the gospel. Keith quickly became a familiar face and affectionally known as "the street preacher." He and his entire church would visit local homes by knocking door-to-door, praying for families and letting them know "God loves you." By the age of 40, he was diagnosed with kidney failure; however, he never ceased the work of Christ, pushing to spread the word of God. While serving at Wilderness Ministries, Keith became severely ill. He asked all the Elders and Ministers he knew to pray for him, and one year later, he received a kidney transplant from a living donor G. Avery Wilson. It was by God's grace and Mr. Wilson's generosity that led to the 15-year extension to his life. After Pastoring for over ten years, he could no longer Pastor due to his health and with the counsel and advice from God, his wife, and Elders, he merged with Bethel Deliverance Outreach Ministries under Bishop Alonzo Walker as an Elder. There, he led and presided over the Outreach Department, while his wife led the Women's Ministry; Keith and Waverly Brown were always united in their devotion to Christ and passed this down to their seven children they raised together.
Keith and Waverly later moved to Virginia, where he resided for the remainder of his life. A devoted husband and provider, Keith worked numerous jobs to support his family. He worked as a driver at NRC in Rockville, MD and drove Globe Cab Company as well as Uber. He loved driving because he met diverse people from all backgrounds and ethnicities, and it gave him the opportunity to continue working in his one of many gifts as an Evangelist for God. He would listen to people's problems as he drove and refer them to Jesus Christ. Knowing the power of hearing the word of God, he created a studio in his home to record messages and started a podcast entitled "The Urban Evangelist," as he believed this to be another medium to propagate the gospel.
In the final days of his life, he reflected on the work of God and the many individuals who supported him through his illness. The first of many being his wife and children: his brother and sister in-law Rey and Wendy Magloire, to include his nieces and nephews, G. Avery Wilson, Bishop Alonzo Walker, Pastor Rick Williams, Seventh Day Pentecost Church Family, Jeff Majors, Rick, and Michael Williams, Yolanda McCoy, Tawanna Anderson, The Virginia Transplant Center and staff located in Henrico Virginia, the Fresenius Kidney Care of Fredericksburg Virginia, and the Medi Hospice staff out of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Our family will be forever lifted by your prayers, acts of love, and kindness.
Keith is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Waverly Brown; his seven children, Bakri, Gideon, Mildred, Anna, Nathanael (Katrina), Rebekah (Mark), and Marion; a total of 14 grandchildren, Kaya, Brian, Nathan, Chance, Mark Jr., Promise, Zion, Jayden, Skylynn, Charlotte, Elias, Langston, Christian, and Micah; one great-granddaughter, Shara; a brother, Charles Leo Brown III; one sister, Karen Jones; and a host of other relatives.
A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:45 AM.
