Obituary

Joyce Ann Lee , daughter of the late George and Inez Fitch, was born on October 22, 1946. She was the oldest sister of five siblings. After a short illness, Joyce Ann peacefully crossed over to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the residence of her son in Fredericksburg, VA. She was born and raised in (Nelson County) Faber, VA.

Joyce was educated in the Nelson County school system, and later relocated to Washington, DC, where she attended, DC Business Institute, and received a Certificate in Key Punch, typing, and Word Processing. Joyce accepted Christ at an early age and regularly attended the Mount Airy Baptist Church until she relocated to Washington, DC. She later regularly attended church services at different churches in DC and Northern Virginia. Joyce loved to read her bible and listen to ministers on the TV or radio stations, as her work schedule did not allow her to attend regular Sunday Church services. Joyce was an excellent home decorator, and enjoyed helping her family with home décor ideas. She also enjoyed planting beautiful indoor and outdoor flowers. Joyce has always had a love for cats, and owned and cared for many cats during her lifetime.

Joyce spent the majority of her working career with the State Department Federal Credit Union as a Collateral Specialist II in Alexandria, VA, where she received several special awards for her work performance. She also worked part time as a Front Desk Concierge with George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, and Sunrise Assisted Living Facility in Alexandria, VA. Joyce never learned to drive a vehicle, but was very proficient in all the bus and subway schedules to get her anywhere she needed to go in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas. She was a dedicated and hard worker that developed positive working relationships with all of her co-workers and managers.

Joyce instilled the following life mottos in her two sons, and grandchildren.

1. It's okay to be you without any excuses. You are not an extension of anyone. You are you.
2. Never knock yourself, for there are at least 12 people waiting to do it for you.
3. Learn to accept yourself as you are.
4. Take time to reach out to help someone with a need greater than yours, and you will see God's
grace at work in your life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Williams, one brother, George E. Fitch III, one sister, Dorothy (Toby) Rush-Godbee, and one brother-in-law, Dwight Godbee.

Joyce leaves to mourn two sons, Montez Lee of Centreville, VA, and Eugene Lee of Fredericksburg, VA; one sister, Rachel Harper (Conrad) of Roanoke, VA; one brother, Emmitt Fitch of Upper Marlboro, MD; two grandsons, Montez Overton of Richmond, VA, and Zackery Wood of Burke, VA; two granddaughters, Katie Lee and Madison Lee, of Fredericksburg, VA; two great grandsons, London and Xavier Overton of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
