John H. Carter Sr. , affectionately known as "Johnny Boy", son of the late Donald Franklin Carter Sr. and Margaret Elydia Carter, was born July 10, 1958, in Stafford County, Virginia. He departed this life at Reston Hospital on June 22, 2026.

He is survived by his sons, Larry "Deon" McKenney (Nikki), John "CJ" Carter Jr. (Kristi), and Keenan Carter (Fatimah); his four grandchildren, Deon McKenney, Dayshaun McKenney, Alonna Carter, and Noah Carter; two siblings; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing and visitation will be held at Union Bell Baptist Church, 407 Hollywood Farm Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.
