John Callahan,
Jr.
d. Jun 3, 2022
John Thomas "Junie" Callahan, Jr., 51, of Fredericksburg, VA, gained his eternal wings on Friday, June 3, 2022.
Junie attended Fredericksburg Public Schools, and later began his career as one of the best barber's Fredericksburg has ever seen. Not just because of his talent and skill, but also because of his kind heart and giving spirit. If you sat in his chair, you would not only get a great cut, but words of encouragement, advice, and even discipline when needed. Oftentimes, followed by a wave of his hand when you attempted to pay him. Let's not forget, he was the ultimate prankster! So, he more than likely played a prank on you before you left. There were no "clients" with Junie. You were either family, or a friend. He built strong lasting relationships with everyone who sat in his chair. If you were a Dallas Cowboys fan, you instantly became a friend for life. He loved the Dallas Cowboys! When you saw him, he would almost always have on something to represent his team, and he wore it proud! Both he and his wife, Sam never missed a game. They were lifelong soulmates and best friends. There was no Junie without Sam, and vice versa. They were truly a ride or die couple who stood strong through sickness and health.
Aside from his love of the Cowboys, and his wife, Junie also loved his family dearly. He was the "big brother", and his siblings meant the world to him. They were all very close and spent lots of time together, but Junie had a special relationship with each of them individually. He also had a few cousins that must be acknowledged as his honorary brothers, Vincent, Jesse and Eppa. They had a bond like no other. You would rarely see them apart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr., and Blanche Callahan; sister, Cheryl Callahan- Scott; and nephew, Rodney Beanum, Jr.
Junie leaves to cherish his memory, to his loving wife, Samantha Callahan; two children, Jasmine Lee, and Lorin (Mann) Lee; his granddaughter, Jace Williams; four siblings, Joyce Callahan, Anthony Callahan, Roddell Callahan (Chanell), and Yevonne Callahan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also had two very special nieces whom he loved dearly, Ameris and Serenity, that affectionately called him "Uncle Jun-Jun". Although his granddaughter, Jace was the apple of his eye, Ameris and Serenity (who he called "Fat Mama") held the key to his heart. You couldn't tell him they weren't his daughters! And anybody who knew his relationship with Jace, knew how much they loved playing with dolls together, and sitting in the window being nosey.
Junie was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He touched so many lives and made a profound impact throughout the community. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on forever. Rest in Peace Junie.
