Jim Calvin Ray , was born on November 23, 1941, to the late George and Pearlie (Hamler) Ray. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

Jim was married for over 35 years to the late Mary Francis (Hart) Ray. He joined the United States Air Force in 1962 where he proudly served for over 25 years. His time in the service included two tours to Vietnam, South Korea, Guam, and various assignments in the United States. After a successful military career, he continued to support the Air Force as a civilian federal employee until he retired in 2000 and moved back home to Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Roosevelt Ray, Estelle, Maetta(Ray) Hogan, George Ray, Eddie Lee Ray, Henry Thomas Ray, Shirley Ruth Ray, and Ezekiel Ray (died in infancy), Betty Jean (Ray) Pitman and James Leslie Ray.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his two daughters, Forshonda (Ronald) Williams of Fredericksburg, VA, and Tracy (Gregory) Brooks of Raeford, NC; three grandchildren, Dominic L. Williams, David A. Williams, and Kaneesha D. Nichols.

A viewing will be held at Semper Fi Chapel, 1775 Fidelis Way, Triangle, VA, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow the service at Quantico National Cemetery, at 1:30 PM.
