Jessie Herndon , 60, of Spotsylvania, VA, transitioned peacefully at his home on September 2, 2022.

Jessie was born in Fredericksburg, VA, on December 19, 1961. He grew up in Spotsylvania County and attended Spotsylvania County Public Schools where he was a standout football player.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Josephine Herndon; his uncles, John Herndon, Raymond Herndon, Mack Herndon, and Thomas Cook.

Jessie is survived by his two sons, Jessie Herndon, and Matthew Herndon; his mother, Jean Herndon Dyson; two sisters, Sheila Herndon, and Leasha Daye (Alton); good friends, Lisa Jenkins, and Larane Pulliam; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 10411 Cooktown Road, Spotsylvania, VA, 22553.
