Jeanne
Clarke
d. Jan 26, 2022
Jeanne Ann Johnson Clarke , 77, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2022, at her home. She was born on June 2, 1944, in Fredericksburg, VA, to the late Eugene Johnson and Julia Mae Johnson. She graduated from Walker Grant High School in Fredericksburg, VA in 1961. She attended Howard University (HU) and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She received her bachelor's degree from VCU. She received her master's degree from University of Mary Washington. For over thirty years, she was a Special Education Teacher for the cities of Fredericksburg and Stafford County Public Schools in Virginia. She taught at many different schools but found her way to enjoy teaching at A.G. Wright Middle School in Stafford County until her retirement in 2004.
Jeanne Ann or "Ma Ann" as most knew her, loved to go out to eat with family and friends. She always enjoyed a nice day trip to partake in the bargain deals at Rose's department store and the many thrift stores including her favorite in Dumfries, VA, Acts Thrift Store. Fishing was one of her favorite pastimes and because of her granddaughter Petria, she learned how to bait a hook. Everyone knows she loved a great cookout or gathering where she could feed people. She made some of the best fried chicken in the world or she would cook you up a nice plump roast with carrots and potatoes. Jeanne Ann was always helping others with whatever they needed. She was the "Mother Hen" to everyone she encountered.
She was preceded in death by lifelong friend, Henry E. Simms.
She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories, her son, Ronald "Peety" Clarke; grandchildren, Petria "Boo/Pumpkin Face" Parker, Dante Cotton, Devin Latney, Theonshaye Clarke, Rahkiya Lane and Kamari "Scoots" Clarke; stepchildren, Thomas P. Slaughter, Ronald B. Clarke (Jacqueline) and James W. Clarke (Lenora); those she raised as her own, Victor Armstrong, Tony Rice, Joseph Armstrong, George Armstrong, and Brenda N. Armstrong; her best friend, John L. Morris; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
