Janet
Storr
d. Jan 13, 2026
Janet "Geannette" Daniels Storr was born in Miami, Florida, to Lessie and Albert Daniels and raised with faith, determination, and a love for learning. A proud graduate of Carver High School (Class of 1960), Janet discovered her lifelong joy of music as a strong and soulful alto.
She met her sweetheart, Sydney R. Storr, in high school, and their love story led them to New York City, where they were married on June 22, 1963. Their 60-year marriage was a beautiful partnership filled with devotion, laughter, and faith until Sydney's passing in 2023. Together they raised three children: Scevia Hunt, Sheila Mathis, and Sydney R. Storr, Jr.
Janet worked her entire adult life, retiring twice—first after more than 20 years with the New York City Department of Health and later from Fairfax County Public Schools. At home, she was a gifted seamstress and master crafter, crocheting and knitting blankets, hats, and keepsakes that wrapped generations of her family in love.
A faithful servant of Christ, Janet served as a choir member, Deaconess, and usher at several churches.
Janet was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth, creativity, and faith will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
