James Hull,
Sr.
d. Aug 24, 2022
James "Woody" Hull, Sr. , 76, departed this life on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Choice Healthcare, Stanardsville, Virginia. God decided it was time for this joyous spirit to enter eternal rest.
Brother Hull, known to many as, "Woody," was born on February 23, 1946, in Fauquier County, VA. He attended public schools in Fauquier County. He joined Clevers Oak Baptist Church at an early age but reinstated his membership, May 11, 1997. Woody may not have been a rich man, but he was rich in spirit and in his heart. He was always willing to help out anyone in any way that he could without expecting anything in return. He was known as the hardest working man around his way. Woody was always on the go, looking for work, trying to make a dollar! He loved to drive his old "raggedy but right" truck, and dance. One of his favorite sayings was, "don't worry about the beef in the can, just worry about the barbecue man – yello."
On July 10, 2004, he was joined in holy matrimony to Barbara Lorraine Booker whom he leaves to cherish his memory. Many others will also cherish his memory including his only son, James "Money" (Melissa) Hull, Jr.; grandsons, Devonte Parham, and Dustin Hull; granddaughter, Analise Hull; great grandsons, Zaiden Parham and Troyden Parham; siblings, Larry (Jenny) Hull of Stafford, VA, Michael (Lucretia) Hull of Goldvein, VA, Deaconess Rosie (Caulton) Webster of Goldvein, VA, Deaconess Jerline (Pernell – deceased) Ricks of New Carrollton, MD, Shirley (James – deceased) Bumbrey of Stafford, VA, Lenora Curry of Fredericksburg, VA, Gladys Jackson of Washington, DC, and Phyllis (Edward) Smith of Bladensburg, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Pernell and Verline Hull, and siblings, William Billy Hull and Lavern Hull.
A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will be held at Cleavers Oak Baptist Cemetery in Goldvein, VA.
