James Lloyd Greene , departed this life on Tuesday, December 13, 2023 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

He was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on February 8, 1935, to the late Theodore L. Greene and Frankie O. Clark Sandifer. He graduated from Dunbar High School in June 1953. In June 1958, James earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Hampton Institute in Hampton, Virginia. He also earned a Master's Degree of Public Administration from the University of Southern California in May 1989. Mr. James L. Greene enlisted in the armed forces (United States Army) in 1958 and served in Vietnam, retiring at the rank of Colonel in 1995. After 44 years of federal service, he retired from the Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration in 2003.

On December 21, 1958, he married the lovely Shirley Maureen McClenney in Newport News, Virginia. To this blessed union three children were born, James L. Greene, Jr., William T. Greene, and Eric D. Greene.

James Lloyd Greene was extremely hard working and provided his best to his family. He also enjoyed power weightlifting. He will be missed tremendously.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, and one brother, Douglas O. Greene.

James leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 64 years, Shirley M. Greene; three sons, James L. Greene, Jr., William T. Greene, and Eric D. Greene (daughter-in-law, Romona Greene); five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives.

A graveside service will be held at Quantico National Cemetery on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 10:30 AM.
