Obituary

Hollie Lee Cook, Jr. , 60, of Spotsylvania, VA passed away on February 3, 2023, at VCU Medical Center.

Hollie was born on April 10, 1962, to Bishop Hollie Lee Cook, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Cook. He was introduced to the Lord at an early age and shared his love for Christ throughout his life. Hollie attended Dayton Public Schools and graduated from Roth High School. After graduation, he went on to attend Sinclair Community College. Hollie was a phenomenal driver and made a career out of driving big trucks. He was smooth behind the wheel and taught his children and several of his grandchildren how to be expert drivers. After 36 years of driving tractor trailers, dump trucks, concrete trucks, etc., he landed what he proclaimed to be his favorite job of his entire career: Safety Instructor for Chaney Enterprises. Although he did not work there long, he often shared with his family how much he loved his team, and that he considered them family, too. He remained with Chaney until his passing.

Hollie loved his family deeply. He adored his parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews and talked about them often. His children were his pride, and his grandchildren were his joy. Hollie's favorite food was chicken, and he was passionate about cars and good music, especially old school gospel and R&B. He was often seen relaxing in his truck with the windows down, while listening to R&B soul artists like Gerald Levert, Charlie Wilson, and Calvin Richardson. Several of his children are also musically gifted and Hollie remained one of their biggest supporters. Hollie was special to all who loved him and will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bishop and Mary Cook; his brother Derrick Cook; his sister Marietta Cook; his eldest son Hollie Lee Cook III, his nephew Adrian Lee Cook, Jr., and his mother-and-father-in-law, Lula, and Roosevelt Barrett.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory and continue his legacy, his sweetheart, love, and life partner of 37 years, Felecia Barrett Cook; daughters, Shalisa Cook, and Ebony Lewis; sons, Antwoine Cook, Corey Cook, and Calvin Jackson; grandchildren, Tyasia Snell, Christopher Lewis, Jr., Danisa Cook, Rayshaun Lewis, Iman Cook, Tylecia Lewis, Alicia Cook, Josiah Washington-Cook, Jayvion Minor, Jeremiah Washington-Cook, Antwoine Cook, Jr., Corey Cook, Jr., Amiyah Cook, and Atreus Cook; beloved grand-goddaughter, Natalia Washington; brothers, Howard (Roxanne) Cook, Michael Cook, Adrian (Tamika) Cook; sisters, Yvette Cook, and Monica Norman; aunts, Louise, and Tiny; uncle, Bill Cook; daughters in love, Jessica Anderson, and Porche Washington; his precious fur baby, Sam Cook; a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A viewing will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site) on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 10:00 AM followed by a homegoing service at 11:00 AM. A repass will immediately follow the service.
