Henry Edward Johnson , affectionately known as Edward, departed this life on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Berea Nursing and Rehab Facility in Fredericksburg, VA.

Henry Johnson was born on August 15, 1937, in Spotsylvania, VA, to Milton and Beatrice Johnson. Henry worked for George Hyman Construction Company in Washington, DC, for over 25 years. He helped construct the Kennedy Center. Henry loved hanging out with his family, and friends. He loved to dance and loved music. A daily ritual of Henry's was going to Dickinson's Store with his brother, Elmore, to play the lottery. This was their special bonding time. Henry loved fishing and enjoyed it as a hobby in his earlier years.

Henry is preceded in death by this parents, Milton and Beatrice Johnson; his son, Kenneth Johnson; his grandmother, Lucy Washington; and his sister-in-law, Fannie Johnson.

Henry leaves to cherish his memory four children; Marie Johnson, Yvonne Jefferson (Jerry); Henry Johnson, Jr. (Elsie), and Edward Paul Jones; five grandchildren; five great-children; his brother, Elmore Johnson; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at the Johnson Family Cemetery in Mineral, VA.
