Obituary

Hansel Isadore Winn , 92, departed this life Monday, October 31, 2022, at his Spotsylvania residence. Affectionately, he was known as "Hamp".

Hansel was an U.S. Army veteran, husband, father, and an outstanding uncle. He served in the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in October 1953. He retired in March 1992 with the Federal Government, GSA U.S. General Services Administration as an Office Equipment Sales Representative. Other employment consisted of positions held with FMC Corporation, Indian Acres of Thornburg campgrounds, and Spotsylvania County Schools as a bus driver.

Hamp was a jovial spirited person who sought something to be happy and laugh about. He enjoyed roadside sightseeing trips, wholesome fellowships, softball, hunting, boating, and fishing. He was a peacemaker and pursued it. He was an excellent listener with direct words of wisdom, and he would remove his feet from conflict. He had a charity spirit to help people and loved his family. His affectionate gentle spirit and words of wisdom will never be forgotten among family. Fond memories of him are cherished by the family.

He was preceded in death by parents, Willie, and Maggie (Sample) Winn, twin brothers, Curtis Lively Winn, and Odis Winn.

Hansel leaves to cherish his memories to his dedicated wife of 48 years, Bessie (Dawson) Winn; two sons, Kevin Giles, and Thomas Dawson; sisters-in-law, Madalyn Winn, and Helen Fortune; three nephews, Herman, Sr., Odis Early, and Hezekiah Winn; eight nieces, Vanessa George, Beatrice, Mary, and Geraldine Winn, Shirley Johnson, Cynthia Law, Jacklen Randall, and Helen Dance; and a host of other relatives and friends.
