Gloria D. Smith , 76, of Fredericksburg, VA, transitioned to glory surrounded by her loving family on May 15, 2024, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Gloria was born on March 17, 1948, to the late James Jake King Sr and Gladys Elizabeth Williams in Spotsylvania VA. She was the youngest of five children. She obtained a certificate in Secretary Studies. Gloria was introduced to the Christian faith at an early age and remained committed to glorifying God throughout her life. Known for her love of cooking and music as well as funny stories, and possessing a genuine heart, Gloria dedicated her life to being a devoted mother and loving confidant. She had an extensive career in administration and enjoyed spending part of her life in sunny Phoenix, Arizona.

Gloria was always a call away for all and was willing to support her loved ones in any way she could.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her son, Victor King as well as her brothers, Raymond King, Theodore King, and Wayne King.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memory and legacy, three children, James Smith III (Denise), Valetta Smith Allen (Kurt), and Vincent Smith (Lisa); her brother, James King Jr; her grandchildren, Angelique Smith, Tierra Williams (Will), Shanika Lee, Joshua Smith, Vincent Smith Jr, Jazlynn Smith, Isaiah Smith, Jonathan Carroll, Kayanna Mincey, Rashaunda Penn, Desmond Smith, and TiQuanna Patton (Howard); her great grandchildren; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

In June 2024, a Celebration of Life will be held in Fredericksburg, VA. Details are forthcoming. On behalf of the family, we thank you for your love, prayers, and comfort during this time.
