Obituary

Gerald Lewis, Sr. peacefully transitioned from earth to glory on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Gerald was born in Fredericksburg, VA, and attended Fredericksburg School Systems. He was employed at General Products in Fredericksburg, VA, for over 20 years, The Free-Lance Star, CVS Warehouse for over 20 years until he retired and, most recently, Spotsylvania County.

Gerald loved spending time with family and making others laugh. He was a big jokester and thought that he was funnier than any comedian (even when he was the only one laughing). He never met a stranger and laughed and joked with everyone. Whether he knew you or just met you, everyone was fair game. Gerald loved to play cornhole with whoever was willing, and was an avid Commanders fan a.k.a. "The Commodores" as he called them. Gerald was an extremely skilled handyman. He could make or fix just about anything in and around the house and was often called on by friends and family for assistance. Gerald loved the local Goodwills and finding bargains wherever he could for himself or his family.  He collected so much, that his family began to call him "Fred Sanford." Whatever he got, he always wanted to share.

Gerald touched so many people with his joyful, upbeat personality. He wouldn't leave a room until he had made someone laugh. He left a lasting impression on all those that he leaves behind and will be deeply missed by his children, siblings, family, friends, and all that were blessed to know him.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Desireé A. Lewis (the REAL "Baby Gurl" as he said); son, Gerald, Jr. (Cubby); grandson, Dylan Lewis; three brothers, Murvyn D. Lewis, Sr., (Miriam), Sherron O. Lewis, and Kevin R. Lewis (Sylvia); three sisters, Debra K. Lewis, Deitra L. Keys (Michael), and Carole Y. Washington (Wayne); former wife, Barbara L. Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lee Lewis, Jr.; brothers, Dwight (Ike) Lewis, Sr., and Gary Lewis; nephew, Julian C. Parker "JoJo"; and  great-nephew, KaRi'us O. S. Jones.
