Obituary

Pastor Geneice Brown was born on July 10, 1961, Chicago, IL the last of ten beautiful children that were born to the union of Harvey and Lillian Fondren. As the youngest child, "Neicy," as family and close friends affectionately called her, was undoubtedly the apple of her parent's eye and their cherished baby girl. From the moment she entered the world, "Neicy" had a way of wrapping her parents around her little finger, and they adored her for her beauty and infectious smile. "

"Neicy" would often reminisce about her loving relationship with her mother, Lillian. She felt deeply grateful for all the life lessons Lillian imparted, most significantly the importance of living a Holy Ghost-filled and righteous life.

Geneice received her education in the Chicago Public Schools and was an exceptionally bright student. After graduating from high school, she married her childhood sweetheart, Larry Brown, whom she had known for many years while attending the Healing Temple Church of God in Christ in Chicago, IL. Shortly after their wedding, the couple moved to North Carolina, where Larry was stationed at Camp LeJeune while serving in the United States Marine Corps. This was just the first of many military assignments for Larry, and throughout their journey, Geneice and Larry made many friends in various locations, including California, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, and eventually Virginia. Geneice demonstrated an outstanding commitment to serving others in her various roles within the community. As a dedicated Prince William County School Bus Driver, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and a Staffing Coordinator, she showed unwavering dedication to improving the lives of those around her.

Geneice and Larry opened their hearts and home to daughter Berkys and Larry G. Brown Jr. from infancy, creating a nurturing environment filled with love and care. Geneice was not just a mother; she embodied the essence of a wonderful and loving parent, dedicating herself to providing Berkys and Larry with the best life any child could hope for. Her commitment to their well-being extended far beyond material needs; she worked to instill in them a love and reverence for God. A cornerstone of Geneice's journey was the Word of God, which she preached and practiced daily. As a devoted church and community member, she modeled integrity, compassion, and generosity. Through her actions and words, she taught her family and others the importance of faith, helping everyone understand the values of kindness, respect, and love for one another.

Geneice and Larry demonstrated the significance of being faithful stewards and doing kingdom work here on Earth when in 2000, they founded Spirit of Truth Deliverance Church (SOTDC) in Woodbridge, VA, and now in Stafford, VA. They pledged to empower Christians to be credible witnesses for Christ. As Senior Pastor and Co-Pastor, Larry, and Geneice created a loving and nurturing congregation where believers thrive in a spirit-filled environment that promotes spiritual growth and learning. The church's evangelism, outreach, and community initiatives highlight its role beyond the sanctuary's walls, demonstrating love, care, and support to those in need within the community. Among the congregation are two extraordinary young women who held a special place in Geneice's heart: Linda Johnson and Cherkia Burrell. Geneice appreciated the support and encouragement from Linda and Cherkia, who made it clear that they stood in solidarity with First Lady Brown in all matters.

Geneice transitioned to her heavenly home on February 2, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Harvey Fondren;  infant brother, Baby Fondren; sisters, Willie Maxine Fondren, and Ora Griffin; brothers, Will Fondren, and Harvey Ray Fondren.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, loving husband Larry Brown; sisters, Birdia D. Williams, Betty Fountain-Sanders, Mattie Greer (Jeff), and May Davis, all of Chicago, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, a loving church family, and a host of Kingdom and Prayer Warrior friends.
