Freida
Lloyd
d. Feb 15, 2022
Freida Elaine Goldwire Lloyd , age 75, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator, mentor, and woman of God that passed into everlasting life on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, with family by her side.
Freida was born on February 9, 1947, in Harlem Hospital in New York City. She was the daughter of the late Eugenia Taylor Goldwire and the late Arthur Goldwire. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Jerry Ramsey, and her sister, Madeline Goldwire.
She was the only person in her family to earn an undergraduate degree and go on to obtain a master's degree in Education. She would eventually spend hours researching classes, majors, and careers for her children and grandchildren as they embarked into and out of their college years. Education was very important to Freida, and she sponsored several young people in their pursuit of a collegiate degree.
She spent her youth and young adult years in New York working towards her degrees and establishing her career in education, before moving to Teaneck, New Jersey, following her marriage in 1968. She eventually moved to Concord in Northern California followed by spending more than twenty-four years in the cities of Fontana and Rialto in Southern California. After retirement from the Riverside County Office of Education, she moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she spent the last nine years of her life close to her two eldest grandchildren. Lately, she expressed her desire to return to California to spend time with her two youngest grandchildren.
Freida loved buying new furniture and redecorating her home to her husband's dismay. She loved her soap operas, Young & the Restless, Days of Our Lives, and General Hospital. Everyone knew not to call her when she was watching her "shows"! She enjoyed soul food (including chitlins, greens, and macaroni and cheese), Now and Later banana flavored candy, and absolutely loved sweet potato pie. She played the piano, enjoyed listening to gospel music, and Kenny G. Freida was always well-dressed in green or blue which were her favorite colors with matching gold jewelry. Freida was faithfully involved in many organizations over her lifetime, but several were close to her heart including Women in Ministry, Convalescent Hospital, and Loveland Sunday School.
Freida was loved by all who knew her. She was especially loved by her family who frequently consulted her for prayer. Freida was a prayer warrior. She prayed for everyone she met, whether friend or stranger. Her commitment to the Lord was evident in all that she did. She walked the walk, and she talked the talk. She was always ready to lend a helping hand in any way she could through volunteering as well as financial support for her church in Virginia, Land of Promise; her home church in California, Loveland Church; and well-known online and television ministries.
She was truly an angel on Earth. She had a kind and gentle demeanor, and she always believed in the power of spoken word. Her strength was encouragement to her family and others as she remained positive despite her pain and declining health in the last three years following a heart attack in 2019. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Freida is survived by her husband, Robert Montgomery, of more than 53 years whom she met during their college years; as well as her three children, Rhonda Cochran and her husband, Landon, in Virginia; Keith Lloyd in California; and Robert Preston Lloyd and his wife, Gina, in California. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Lauren Cochran (22), and Taylin Cochran (19) of Virginia, and Gianna Lloyd (5) and Gemma Lloyd (2) of California.
The funeral service and interment will be held at a later date at Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA 90601
Until we meet again Mom, may you rejoice in Heaven.
