Ernest L. Pratt Sr. , also known as "Gicky" departed this life on March 18, 2022. Ernest Sr. was born on February 10, 1960, in Fredericksburg, VA to the late William Hampton Pratt and Elizabeth (Samuel) Pratt.

Ernest Sr. attended Fredericksburg City Schools. He was a hardworking man and had multiple occupations throughout his life, one being a truck driver. He loved driving trucks and traveled all over the states before his health failed and he had to resign. In his free time, he loved fishing, watching the television show "In the Heat of the Night", watching westerns, working on cars, and fixing anything around the house that needed repairs. There wasn't nothing he couldn't fix or find a way to have something fixed. He was always willing to help anyone in need. Ernest Sr. loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hampton Pratt and Elizabeth Pratt; his son, Ernest L. Pratt II; and his brother, William H. Pratt Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Samantha M. Pratt; four daughters, Shaunte Taylor (Reginald), Tiesha Ross, Ebony Pratt and Essence Pratt; one son, Terrence Ross (Tamara); one daughter in-law, Lauren Pratt; three sisters, Shirley Johnson (James), Carolyn Pratt and Dottie Jean King; one brother, Anthony Pratt; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Bassett and Diane Chapman (Kim); one brother-in-law, Howard Jenkins; twelve grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other loving relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will be held privately.
