Emanuel Rollins,
Sr.
d. Jan 30, 2022
Emanuel Chappelle "Pye" Rollins, Sr. , known to most as "Pye", departed this life on Sunday, January 30, 2022. He was born on August 12, 1945, to the late William Tibbs and Laura Coleman Rollins.
Pye initially gave his life to the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Second New Hope Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Russell Robinson. After a few years of life experiences, he rededicated himself to serve the Lord and the SNHBC congregation as a faithful member. He was President of the Men's chorus, a Trustee, and past President and current treasurer of the Usher Board.
Pye graduated from John J. Wright Consolidated School in the Class of 1964. He, along with his brother "A.D.", led the JJW Wildcats basketball team to many victories and were a force to be reckoned with! He also enjoyed playing softball where he traveled throughout Fredericksburg and surrounding counties with longtime friends providing loads of entertainment. Pye had a love for fixing up and driving old cars. Always on the road, a weekend with him could turn into an apple picking adventure, a ride along Skyline Drive or a trip to Atlantic City at the drop of a hat! He was a faithful Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed countless trips with his buddies to cheer them on. Everyone knew that anything with the Steelers logo on it would suffice as the perfect gift. Always the jokester, he loved his family and his family loved him!
Rumor has it that Pye "intentionally" failed a year in high school just to be with the love of his life and future wife, Annie Jean Dudley. They eventually married and from this union two beautiful children were born, Lorraine and Emanuel Jr. "PJ".
Pye worked at Southland Corp./McLane Mid-Atlantic where he was a dedicated employee and took pride in his work. During these years, he developed many life-long friendships. After more than a decade there, Pye became self-employed, establishing E. C. Rollins Cleaning Service.
In addition to his parents, Pye was preceded in death by his wife, Annie. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Rollins Montague; and three brothers, William "Bill", Allen "A.D." and Leonard "Jack" Rollins.
Pye leaves to cherish his memories daughter, Lorraine and son, Emanuel C. Rollins, Jr. (Roxanne); grandsons, Dorien and Darius; granddaughters, Gwendolyn, Geneieve, Gabrielle and Lauranne; great-grandsons, Ozias and Zyaire; goddaughter, Cydnee Bayless; three sisters, Evelyn R. Montague, Claudia R. Bayless and Margaret R. "Bebe" Jones; two brothers, Melvin T. Rollins and Lewis "Luco" Rollins; special niece and most dutiful caregiver , Linda V. Rollins; special nephew and confidante, Steve L. Rollins; one aunt, Frances M. Johnson; and special caregiver and friend Deborah Rodriguez. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, a host of other relatives, and the best of friends.
