Elwood
Green
d. Dec 7, 2022
Elwood Roger Green , most affectionately known as "Mendy G" was born to the late, Jeanette, and William Green on February 7, 1947, in Woodford, VA. He gained his wings December 7, 2022, at the age of 75.
He graduated from Caroline County High School after which he served in the military. He was a jack of all trades, never meeting a challenge that he could not solve. If he could not, he was guaranteed to rig it up and make it work. He was a master carpenter, but his real trade and passion was as an auto mechanic. He was a hardworking man with a stubbornness unmatched, the best sense of humor, the biggest heart and a sweet tooth that got him in trouble with ALL of the grandkid's parents. Cracking jokes or telling you a farfetched story was his way of showing his affection and acceptance. You were lucky if you were on the tail end of his jokes. You could most often find him in the yard working on one of his vehicles, a side project he picked up, or bringing home a pot belly pig or goat for one of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Green; son, Keith Green; sister, Beverly Green; two brothers, George Green, and Kevin Green; and oldest nephew, Delano Green.
He is survived by two daughters, Clista Cooper (Terrill), and Cassandra Parker; son, Dyron Green; five brothers, Ronald Green (Gail), Alvin Green, William Green, Lynn Green, and Scott Green (Kim); three sisters, Audrey Daniel (Theodore), Trudell Green, and Sheryl Hardy; aunts, Lottie Armstead, and Emma Jane Woolfolk; sister-in-law, Armita Wood; eight grandchildren, Shawdell Green, Keyana Green, Trenton Day, Fatimah Chavies, Dyron Williams, Dyron Green, Jr., Fatima Abdul-Maleek, and Jamila Lewis; seven great grandchildren, Aiden Schmidt, Lyndon Bailey, Nazir Day, Adonis Wheeler, Dyron, Jr., Chloe and Pharaoh; and a host of relatives, friends and loved ones that he undoubtedly left his mark on along the journey.
A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Monday December 12, 2022, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, VA, at 2:00 PM.
