Edna
Clark
d. Apr 4, 2025
Edna Daloras Ewell Clark , affectionately known as Lois, was the second born of the late John Walter Ewell and Evelyn Louise Cobb. She was born on September 9, 1938, in Washington, D.C and transitioned peacefully from her earthly life on April 4, 2025, at her residence in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.
She was raised in Washington, D.C. where she attended and graduated from DC Public Schools. Edna was a graduate of McKinley High School in 1957 and later went on to receive her Associates degree in Nursing in 1968 from Burdick Vocational High School. Edna married and divorced early in life. She did an amazing job raising her six children prior to gaining the assistance of her soulmate and husband, Nathaniel D. Clark, in the late seventies.
Throughout her life Edna checked off many milestones and achievements. Edna was a member of the Gethsemane Chapter No.3 order of the Eastern Star Prince Hall Affiliation. She was a nurse at the Veterans hospital, where she dedicated herself to serving those who served their country. She was also a Deaconess, Missionary, Usher, and a member of the Culinary Staff and Scholarship Committee at Sylvannah Baptist Church where she made her church home for several decades. There she learned the importance of putting God first and that family extends beyond blood. One of her proudest achievements was seeing the success of her family. Edna attended every graduation and wedding, not to mention hosting BBQs that would bring out the WHOLE FAMILY. Edna enjoyed herself, a good vacation too. Along with her good friend Charlene and her cousin Paulette, the trio traveled around the United States and even had some fun abroad as well. They traveled to Hawaii, Aruba, Vegas, and Canada amongst many other places. In her spare time Edna spent her time sewing, quilting, gardening, and completing a good word search puzzle. (if you have sat in her reclining chair, you know!)
Those who knew Edna will remember her for her benevolence, kindness, integrity, blunt sense of humor, generosity, and killer stare. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend whose legacy will live on through the success of the generations to follow her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Clark; children, Cassandra Mumford, Donnie Clark, and Kevin Clark; sister, Ruby Rodgers; and son-in-law, Lester Mumford.
Edna Daloras Clark is survived by her children, James Dickens, Patrice Dickens, Jacqueline Jones (Aaron), Pamela Moore (Anthony), Ricardo Mayo, Bronnie Brooks (James), and Mark Clark (Kimberly); grandchildren, Michael, Patrice, Stephanie, Nicole, Aresha, Jamie, Anthony, Darrius, Devin, Andrew, and Dana; her loving brother, John Bernard Ewell; church children, Will Graves and Janice Graves; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other close family members and friends.
A viewing will be held at Sylvannah Baptist Church, 8400 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, VA, 22551, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, VA, 22408, at 2:00 PM.
