Clinton Braxton,
Jr.
d. Oct 29, 2024
Clinton Braxton, Jr. , peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at his residence, with family and friends by his side.
Clinton affectionately known by family as "Junior", was born in Spotsylvania County on November 14, 1939, to the late Elnora Stannard Braxton and Clinton Braxton Sr. He graduated from John J. Wright Consolidated School in 1956. Clinton settled into his job working for the Federal Government, Census Bureau, as a Computer Operator.
Clinton accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized in the Po River before becoming a member of Sylvannah Baptist Church. He faithfully served many ministries of the church including, Head Usher, Trustee, Missionary, and a member of the Culinary Committee before his health declined.
He was an avid bowler, and played on bowling leagues in Washington D.C. and Fredericksburg, VA for many years. He enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises. If anyone invited him to go on a trip, he'd say, "My bags are packed." As a graduate of John J. Wright, Clinton was a devoted worker in the John J. Wright Museum. He was especially proud and knowledgeable of our local history and culture. He encouraged young people to go to school, get a degree, and work hard. He also encouraged them to find time for enjoyment because money is not everything. In his leisure time, he spent countless hours in his yard cultivating his plants, flowers, and landscape.
Clinton was fiercely independent and took care of his parents in his home in their later years. Even with his health declining, he also took excellent care of his sister, the late Constance Braxton. Their bond was unmatched.
Clinton leaves cherished memories for his brothers, Terrence Haley, and Kevin Haley. He also leaves a host of cousins, and friends.
