Obituary

Cheryl Denise Jackson was born February 19, 1953, in Richmond, Virginia, as the second of five children to the late Kenneth Earl Jackson, Sr. and Mary Frances Acors Jackson. On October 29, 2025, she transitioned into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.

Cheryl graduated from Spotsylvania Senior High School in 1971 and upon graduation, she attended Germanna Community College.

Cheryl accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized into fellowship with Zion Hill Baptist Church. Later in her adult life, she rededicated her life to Christ and rejoined Zion Hill Baptist Church until her health no longer allowed her to attend. She was an active member of the choir and was known for singing "He's Able To Carry You Through."

She was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Washington D.C., where she remained for several years. Following her time at the FBI, she was employed by Rappahannock Electric Cooperative and the African Methodist Episcopal Church Service and Development Agency (AME-SADA) for several years until her health began to decline.

One of Cheryl's favorite pastimes was assembling puzzles. She will be fondly remembered for her delicious cooking, especially her famous potato salad, which was a staple at family gatherings and celebrations. Additionally, her keen eye for design made her an extraordinary decorator.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Earl Jackson, Sr. and Mary Frances Acors Jackson; her great-nephew, Colby Jackson and her great-niece, Amaiyah Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Carolyn Gray (George) of Ashland, Virginia and Fonda Hicks (Johnny) of Spotsylvania, Virginia; two brothers, Cornelius Jackson (Nebra) of Spotsylvania, Virginia and Kenneth Earl "Woody" Jackson, Jr. (Deborah) of Culpeper, Virginia; five nieces, Sharnette (Ronnie), Nicole, Kelly, Aleiyah, and Brielle; two nephews, Blair (Tanya) and Stephen (Shannon); four great-nieces, Ariana, Ryleigh, Alaya, and Storie; three great-nephews, Amare, Shai, and Saint; two aunts, Ruby Terrell of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Masuko Jackson of Forestville, Maryland; a host of cousins, extended family members, and many close friends, including a special friend and cousin, Daviette Lolagne, with whom she lived until her health began to decline.

A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg, VA, 22408, on Saturday November 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
