Obituary

Celestine Law , 62, of Fredericksburg, VA, departed this life on September 24, 2025.

Celestine Law, affectionately known as "Les", "Lestine", or "Celeste" was born on July 2, 1963, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Hosea Chambers and the late Barbara Jean Harris. She was also lovingly raised by her stepfather, the late Stanley Granderson, who played a significant role in her upbringing. On September 24, 2025, Celestine was called home to glory, passing peacefully at her home, surrounded by love.

Celestine was one of eight siblings, falling in the middle of the line between Kevin Chambers, Regina Conover, Chris Ann Chambers, Gregory Chambers, Stephanie Brown, Dorshae Thomas, and stepbrother Rahim Muhammad.

She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Randy Chambers.

Celestine's early education spanned throughout both Ohio and New Jersey public school systems. She graduated from Henry Snyder HighSchool in 1982. She also briefly pursued her passion at an art and fashion school. In 1983, she married her high school sweetheart, Rodney Law. Though their marriage eventually ended, their bond remained strong, and she was always welcomed and loved as part of the Law family—even in her final days.

Later in life, Celestine returned to school and earned an associate degree from Northern Virginia Community College. She had a deep love for fashion and was a gifted artist. Her hobbies included knitting, dancing, laughing, and spending quality time with family—whom she cherished deeply. Her unique laugh and bright smile were infectious, drawing in others effortlessly. Above all, Celestine had an unwavering relationship with God and found joy in talking to Him daily.

As a military wife, Celestine worked as a civilian on bases in Norfolk, VA, and Bayonne, NJ. Her journey also took her overseas and included a brief stay in California. In the 1990s, she began a career in the medical field in New Jersey. She later relocated to Woodbridge, Virginia, in 1997 and began working for Sentara Northern Medical Group (formerly Potomac Hospital) in 1998. Over more than 15 years, she served in various roles and continued to volunteer after retirement. In retirement, she brought warmth and joy as a greeter at Saks OFF 5TH and served as a teaching assistant at a home preschool ran by her dear sister in Christ, Lafay Russell.

Celestine's spiritual journey was central to her life. She became a devoted member of New Life Anointed Ministries in Woodbridge, VA, in the early 2000s. In 2015, she completed the training and courses required to become an ordained minister. She served faithfully in multiple capacities: as a member of the Bishop's Choral Choir, theNew Members Ministry, a youth leader, a children's church teacher, and a supporter of the children's choir. She chaperoned college tours, fed the homeless, and visited and prayed for the sick and shut in. Even after being diagnosed with dementia, Celestine continued to write prayers, intercede for others, and express her deep gratitude for the family and fellowship she found through her church.

Celestine leaves behind a legacy of love and faith through her two daughters, Lakriesha and Rahdesha; her four cherished grandchildren, Jamari, Kaelani, Keith Jr., and Karmelo; her mother- in-law, Earnestine Law; numerous godchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and countless friends and extended family who were touched by her spirit.

The family extends gratitude to everyone for their prayers, kind thoughts, heartfelt gestures, and presence as they celebrate the remarkable woman Celestine was—a loving mother, devoted grandmother, treasured daughter, sister, loyal friend, and faithful servant of God. May you all find peace in knowing her spirit is now free, and her light continues to shine in all who knew and loved her.
