Calvin Darnell Chantaze Graves (lovingly known as Darnell by his family), a cherished father, son, brother, and uncle, passed away on August 4, 2025.

Darnell will be remembered for his playful sense of humor, vibrant personality, and his unique ability to bring joy and laughter to any room. He had a deep love for good food, a knack for critiquing meals, and a special way of brightening the lives of those around him. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Darnell could be counted on. Whether it was helping someone move, painting, assembling furniture, or mowing the lawn.

He is survived by his parents, Charles Sr. and Donna Graves; his daughter, K'Leigh Graves; his sister, Deborah Bryant; his brothers, Charles Graves Jr. (Gail), Gary Graves (Angela), and Rodney Graves (April). He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will lovingly remember him.

Born on September 9, 1973, in Baltimore, Maryland, however Darnell was a longtime resident of Spotsylvania County. He graduated from Courtland High School in 1992, where he stood out on the football field as a talented running back. After graduation, he pursued a career in the landscaping industry.

Darnell's presence was a gift. He will be forever deeply missed and never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive Fredericksburg, VA, 22408, on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
