Obituary

Bobbie Holliday-Gordon was born the third of six children to the late Mose, and Ada Mae Holliday in Prairie, Mississippi on May 14, 1961. She was a soft-spoken, responsible, kind, and intelligent student receiving her K-12 education from the West Point School District in West Point, MS and her college degrees from the Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS where she earned a degree in accounting. After a short career in K-12 education, she accepted a job as an auditor with the United States Government. This decision would lead to over 36 years of federal service and professional growth and accomplishments.

Bobbie Holliday and Donald Lee Gordon met in 1987 at Fort Hood, TX, and bonded instantaneously. They were united in holy matrimony on June 17, 1988. This led to 36 years of marital bliss and endless family memories, blessings, and adventures.

Bobbie enjoyed her life as a newlywed and auditor. For the several years, she traveled and enjoyed her life as the next military spouse before moving to Virginia and starting a family with the birth of Donald Lee Gordon, Jr. in 1993 and Austin Blake Gordon in 1997. Bobbie embraced motherhood and always did her best to prepare her boys for every opportunity possible. She could be found carpooling, volunteering, and donating her time, talents, and efforts to various projects and organizations throughout their educational careers. As her boys became older and more self-sufficient, she was able to  focus more on her career. As was the case with all things, anything that Bobbie set her mind to do, she attacked with purpose and passion. Not to mention, growing up with three brothers, over the years, she had become extremely competitive. After several assignments in Kansas, Oklahoma, TX, Louisiana, and Virginia, she was promoted to GS-14 in 2008 and by 2010 had taken the necessary steps to make sure that her agency was ranked in the top 3 Best Places to Work for seven consecutive years. This was also the year that Bobbie earned a master's degree in public policy from Georgetown University. Bobbie would go on to

become the Chief of Staff of the (PDAG) Principal Deputy Audit General and through her tireless efforts brought unimplemented recommendations down to less than 50 compared to more than 800 in 2011 when she started the position. Bobbie retired in December 2022 and began her second career as a real estate agent, helping others realize their dreams of home ownership and being a daily companion to Donald.

Bobbie was a virtuous woman and a true ¨servant of God. ¨ Bobbie joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in 1998, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Alfred Jones, Jr. Bobbie worked diligently and dedicated herself to the Sunday School Department. She also assisted with the Black History Program and Christmas. Bobbie loved her church family. She always knew how to love and support people and had a way of making everyone around her feel welcome. She treated everyone like family and always looked for ways that she could extend her kindness and generosity to others. Her smile and calm spirit made everyone around her feel comfortable and welcome. To know her was to love her and she did her part to make the world a better place than she found it.

Bobbie departed this life and took her rightful place in the arms of Jesus. She has found an eternal home free from all sorrow, suffering, and pain. She will forever be cherished by her siblings, Larry Holliday (Jenny), Greg Holliday (Jackie) Angel Carter, Peggy Roach, and Dennis Holliday who preceded her in death. A beloved mother-in-law, Euzeal Hall and two sisters-in-law, Patricia Gordon, Deborah Gordon and two brothers- n-law Stanley Gordon and Shakoor Gordon who preceded her in death. She leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that loved her dearly. Bobbie had two incredibly special friends, Lori James, and Mary Wilson that will miss her very much. Her loving spirit and kind soul will live on eternally in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.
