Obituary

Beverly Louis Garnett , affectionately known as "Mickey," departed this life on July 31, 2026, at his home at the age of 72.

Mickey was born on January 7, 1954, to the late Clarice Garnett and Sandy Washington. He was lovingly raised by his grandmother, the late Deaconess Beatrice G. Kay, with the love and support of his aunt, Ruth Toles, and uncle, James Garnett, Jr. He was a lifelong resident of the Fredericksburg area. Mickey was a man of strong faith who loved the Lord. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Woodford, Virginia.

Mickey loved his family and truly enjoyed spending time with those he loved. Family gatherings were never complete without his joking and trash talking. He enjoyed fishing and loved to sing. Mickey also had a kind and giving heart. If someone needed help and he had the means and ability to help them, he would. Anyone who knew Mickey knew about his love for the Dallas Cowboys. He was a loyal, die-hard fan who faithfully cheered them on through every season and proudly proclaimed year after year, "This is our year!"

Mickey leaves to cherish his memory his son, Torrey "Troy" Lewis (Timmina); his daughter, Shiwana Williams; his beloved grandchildren, Ashley Gallion, Nyasia King, Torriana Lewis, Noella Washington, Anthony Anderson, Jeremiah Cole, Jayson Bates, and Brandon Bates; his great-grandchildren, Jada Johnson, Dai'Nique Gallion, and Noah Washington. He also leaves behind his bonus children, with whom he shared a special bond, Loretta Hill (Melvin), Ronald McCall, Melody Robinson (Anthony), Tina McCall, Michelle White (John), and Sabrina McCall.

Mickey was preceded in death by his sister, Jacy Garnett and nephew, Devon Coakley.

Mickey is also survived by his sisters, Violet Jones and Justine Washington; his brothers, William "Bill" Garnett (Polly), Harry Buckner (Wanda), Sandy Washington, Jr. (Lisa), Walter Washington, and Eddie Lee; his uncles, James Garnett, Jr., Roland Wallace (Shelia), Greg Queen, Thomas Queen (Edna), and George Queen (Salice); his aunts, Ruth Toles, Jackie Allen, Irene Thompson (Houston), and Margaret Holloway (Donald).

Mickey also held a special place in his heart for his nieces, Keisha Garnett, Leisha Garnett, and Tameka Williams, whom he loved dearly, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

His presence will be deeply missed, but the laughter, love, and memories he gave his family will remain forever in our hearts.
