It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Annie "Lois" Henderson Jenkins, who passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. Born on March 16, 1926, in Anniston, Alabama, she was our cherished matriarch. Annie was married to her husband, John Joseph Jenkins, for 59 years until his passing in 2010. We are truly grateful to have had her for 99 years on Earth, and she will be deeply missed.
Annie is survived by her son, Maurice (Mellaknese) Jenkins; daughters Joanne Jenkins and Kimberly (Kevin) Snodgrass; grandchildren Michael "Unique" Harden Jenkins, Kimberly Portis- Jenkins, Javon Qualls Jenkins, Raphael Qualls Jenkins, Kevin "KK" Snodgrass Jr., Erica (David) Jenkins-Griffin, and Kyle Snodgrass; sister Laura Jarman; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A beloved figure in her community, Annie "Lois" Henderson Jenkins leaves behind a legacy of love, empowerment, and dedication. As a licensed beautician, she touched many lives, later providing childcare services to over 42 children throughout her lifetime, offering not only care but also guidance and support. In addition to her work in beauty culture, she made her mark as a line electrician at Stewart Warner Electronics in Chicago, where her technical skills shone brightly. She retired and moved to Virginia with her family in 1985.
A passionate civil rights advocate, Annie dedicated her life to uplifting the Black community, tirelessly working to empower young women. She was a spiritual mother to many, embracing her role with warmth and compassion, and her influence will be felt for generations to come.
