Obituary

Ann Lois Brown Silvera, was born on Friday, April 30, 1943, to Bill and Minnie Brown in Jacksonville, Florida. Ann transitioned to be with the Lord on the night of January 16, 2022, at the tender age of 78 years old.

Ann graduated high school in East Brunswick, New Jersey and attended nursing school for two years. After graduating she received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. For the next fifty plus years until her retirement she worked in the hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and private duty home cases. Her specialty was dealing with geriatric patients. Not only did she take care of them medically, but she also gave them a sense that she was an additional individual in their lives that cared about their well-being.

She also attended Fairfax County Adult Education in Fairfax, Virginia along with her daughter, Deirdre for 18 months in which she received her certified diploma in Medical Insurance Billing in January 2000.

Ann gave birth to two children, her daughter, Deirdre R. (Silvera) Lockett-Lyke and her son, Jayson C. Silvera. These two were her pride and joy. She instilled in them love, compassion and family loyalty. Ann stressed to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the importance of having a relationship with God.

Ann started serving the Lord when she was a child, and this continued throughout the course of her life. She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman. Ann pursued the wisdom of God instead of the wisdom of the world. Her desire was to honor God and not humankind. She knew her reward came from God and him alone.

Ann loved to serve the Lord through, singing, praising, and worshipping him. She read the bible and different books that discussed spirituality as well as walking a Christian life. Ann loved watching western shows such as, Gunsmoke and Bonanza. She loved traveling throughout the U.S to attend Christian conferences. Ann was blessed to visit Israel for a period of ten days. Her favorite baseball team was the Washington Nationals and she loved watching them on television to show her support. One of her dreams was to see the Nationals play live at their Washington, DC stadium. She was able to do just that and screamed louder in person then she did while watching the games on television.

Ann was predeceased by her husband, Nevil F. Silvera; her parents, Minnie L. Brown and Bill Brown; her siblings, Margaret Brown, Benny Brown, Roosevelt Brown, Bernard Brown, Carl Brown, and Fred Brown.

Ann is survived by her children, Deirdre (Silvera) Lockett-Lyke and Jayson C Silvera; her grandchildren, Donovan, Kyle, Davon, Duwan, Charesse, Danielle, Maleek, Ja'niece, William Exavier and Derek (Prince); her great-grandchildren, Donovan Jr., Nevaeh, Demarion, Kimora, Kyliee, Jayla, Dominic, and Chance; siblings, Janice Green, Rose Green and Robin Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
