Mr. Allen A. Winfield, Jr., 93 of Fredericksburg, VA, departed this life on March 1, 2024.  He was the last of seven siblings.

While attending Delaware State where he earned his B.A. in Sociology he earned several academic accolades including High Achievement Honors and the Dean's List.  Also, he worked as the Student Coach for the men's baseball team.  In addition, he was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Mr. Winfield served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1941 to1952 where he received several awards including the Occupational Medal (Japan), the Korean Service Medal with (3) Bronze Stars and the National Defense Service medal.

For more than 20 years, Allen was a dedicated employee of the City of New York working as an Executive Administrator in the Human Resource Administration.

After retirement, he and Mattie continued to enjoy the retirement life with traveling including cruising throughout the world.  In early 2008, he and his wife, relocated from Long Island, New York and settling down in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where they met a host of new friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, (Allen A. Winfield, Sr. and Blanche Estelle Stafford), Mattie Winfield (wife), and Stella (daughter).

Mr. Winfield is survived by his daughter, Genise Wanza (Howard), nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
