Obituary

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.

Aaron Allie Fairchild, Jr. slipped quietly into eternal rest on Friday, November 25, 2022, in Massaponax, Virginia.  On June 11, 1940, God blessed the late Aaron Fairchild, Sr. and the late Florence Fairchild with the birth of Aaron Allie Fairchild, Jr.  He was one of four siblings. Two preceded him in death: Muriel Fairchild and Henry Fairchild.  Aaron was affectionately called "Junior," "Uncle Junior" or "Molly" and was known to have a bustling personality.

From an early age, Junior was raised in a nurturing environment by his maternal grandparents, the late Emmitt and Gay Johnson of Frederick Hall, Virginia.  It was in this environment Junior joined the Rising Sun Baptist Church, pastored by Reverend John Tyler. He was highly active in Sunday School and Church and spent many hours walking from Grandma Gay's house to Rising Sun. It was evident that Junior loved God and never forgot his church.  On many occasions he went back to Rising Sun to attend services. He especially looked forward to attending homecoming services the second Sunday in August.  With his bustling personality, he still knew and visited everybody up and down the road from Rising Sun Church.

Aaron began his educational journey in the Louisa County Public School System, attending Rising Sun Elementary School, Zelda C. Morton Elementary School, and the A.G. Richardson High School. Upon graduating from high school, he moved to Caroline County with his uncle and aunt, the late Reginald and Bessie Beverly where it was convenient for him to attend Virginia Union University.

Junior was inducted into the U.S. Army in September 1962 and was sent to Oakland, California. He served the Army faithfully, serving in Thailand and other places.  He was honorably discharged from the Army in December 1964.

After the Army, Aaron joined the D.C. Transit Bus Company, now Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) as a bus operator and remained with the company until his retirement. He made a home in Northeast Washington after his marriage to the late Alice Cousins.

Junior loved his family and used to do pop up visits to family members in Caroline, Spotsylvania, Glen Allen, Mechanicsville, District of Columbia and Maryland.  He loved people! Junior loved to swing dance and he loved to cook. He could make you gain five pounds in one seating and everything he cooked was scrumptious!

During his lifetime, Aaron had many activities that he enjoyed. Aaron enjoyed raising money and walking for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. From his teenage years, he was an avid hunter, hunting with his uncles and brother during hunting season.  He loved to play baseball, especially at Grandma's on a Sunday afternoon with the whole neighborhood participating. He also loved to play basketball and was a diehard Redskins fan! Back in the day, Junior loved to keep his GTO shiny, and he loved sporting his red pickup truck.

Aaron leaves to cherish his memory daughters Desiree Walker, Katchedia Fisher (Ernest), Alicia Fairchild, and Juanita Fairchild Rohler (Dennis); son Everett Evans (Anne); extremely loving and dedicated sister Priscilla Enoch Villines; niece LaToya Villines, nephews Bobby Enoch (Janice), and Michael Fairchild (May). One sister-in-law Ivy Fairchild; and two devoted cousins/sisters Claudia Rollins (Jerome) and Katrina Gill (Edward). Aaron also leaves his longtime partner Ramona Husbands. Junior leaves many close cousins, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and other relatives to cherish his memories.

A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 8:30 AM followed by a 9:30 AM funeral service. The interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.

The Lord is my light and my salvation—

Whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life—

Of whom shall I be afraid?
